Ni200 Nickel Wire
Product Introduction
Ni200 nickel wire (UNS N02200) is a commercially pure nickel material with ≥99.0% nickel (plus cobalt) content and a face-centered cubic (FCC) crystal structure. It delivers outstanding corrosion resistance in alkaline media and neutral salt solutions, dramatically outperforming stainless steel in caustic alkali service. The material also features good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and formability. Ni200 is widely used in chlor-alkali processing, food processing equipment, electronic components, and synthetic fiber production. Available from φ0.1 mm to φ6.5 mm, customizable up to φ10.0 mm, as straight wire or coil.

Features and Advantages
- Superior caustic alkali resistance: Virtually immune to corrosion in NaOH, KOH, and other strong alkalis-far exceeds stainless steel.
- High electrical and thermal conductivity: Electrical resistivity ≈ 0.095 μΩ·m, thermal conductivity ≈ 70 W/(m·K)-ideal for electronic and heat-transfer uses.
- Excellent ductility: Elongation ≥40% annealed, easily drawn to ultra-fine wire diameters with good formability.
- High purity and stability: Nickel ≥99.0%, low magnetostriction, consistent batch-to-batch performance.
- Neutral salt resistance: Stable in chloride, sulfate, and other neutral salt solutions.
- Broad temperature window: Melting point 1440°C; reliable continuous service up to 315°C.
Performance Solutions
-
A. Problem: Stainless steel suffers caustic embrittlement and stress corrosion cracking in hot concentrated alkalis, posing serious safety risks
Solution: Ni200 is virtually immune to corrosion in NaOH,KOH,and other caustic alkalis. It is the standard material for caustic evaporators and piping systems.
B. Problem: Copper and copper alloys suffer pitting and dezincification in chloride environments, leading to short service life.
Solution: Ni200 remains stable in neutral chloride and sulfate solutions with extremely low corrosion rates, making it suitable for chloride-containing service.
C. Problem: Iron-based alloys cause metal contamination in food processing media, compromising food safety.
Solution: Ni200 meets FDA food-contact material requirements.Suitable for food processing equipment, piping, and vessel components.
D. Problem: Conventional metal wire corrodes in the spin-bath solutions of synthetic fiber production, contaminating the product.
Solution: Ni200 resists viscose rayon spin-bath corrosion without product contamination. The standard material for spinnerets and filter screens in the chemical fiber industry.
Applications
-
A. Used in caustic evaporator tube bundles, diaphragm cell components, caustic piping, and storage tanks. Virtually immune to corrosion in high-temperature, high-concentration NaOH. An irreplaceable material in the chlor-alkali industry.
B. Used in food-grade piping, heat exchangers, filter screens, and conveyor belts. FDA-compliant, resists food acids and cleaning solutions, no metal contamination.
C.Used in resistor leads, semiconductor bonding wires, capacitor leads, and battery tabs. High conductivity, oxidation-resistant, good so lderability. Suited for precision electronics.
D. Used in viscose rayon spinnerets, filter screens, and spinning components. Resists spin-bath corrosion with clean surface, no fiber contamination.
E. Used in fluorine-process piping, alkaline battery electrodes, and hydrogen fuel cell components. Resists anhydrous HF and moderate-concentration hydrofluoric acid. Growing adoption in energy applications.
