Gr1 Titanium Rod Description

1. Introduction

Gr1 titanium rod is made of A00 CP titanium, which belongs to α-type commercially pure titanium and the purest grade in industrial applications.

Chemical composition: titanium content≥99.5%, impurities (Fe, O, C, N, H) very low content

Grade characters: Gr1 titanium rod has the best ductility, but the strength is lower than that of other grades.

Rod form: Round rods, square rods, hexagonal rods, and other shapes produced through processes such as hot rolling, forging, and cold drawing are the most basic forms of titanium materials.

Produce process & equipment: The commercially pure titanium rods are made of high-purity titanium sponge, ingots produced by vacuum arc remelting two or more times, manufactured by forging billets, hot rolling, or forging into rods; and stress-relief annealing, followed by acid pickling, turning or grinding, straightening, precision cutting, and non-destructive testing before shipment. It features a uniform microstructure, good ductility, excellent corrosion resistance, and high dimensional accuracy.

2. Finished & Quality Control

  • Black rod (hot rolling/forging)

Surface: Oxide scale, rough surface, and has forging marks.

Suitable: Above φ20 mm, will be turning or milling, no surface finish requirements.

Tolerance: loose tolerance (eg, φ50±1.0 mm)

  • Turned rod (hot process and turned finished)

Surface: Turned worked, there is no oxide scale, Ra≤1.6 μm.

Suitable: Above φ10 diameter, for assembly and welding directly.

Tolerance: ±0.2 mm (in general)

  • Polished rod (cold drawn/polished)

Surface: precision polished, Ra≤1.6 μm, high dimensional accuracy

Suitable: φ4 to φ50 mm, precision shafts, molds, and non-magnetic components

Tolerance: ±0.05 mm (grade H6, Ra≤0.8μm)

1) Production Line Strength

Baoji Titanium Valley Ti-Ni-Zr Material Processing Co., Ltd. has invested a total of $36.2 million in high-end strip and foil production, establishing an  advanced production line for titanium, nickel, zirconium and their alloy strips and foils in the world.

The production line specializes in the stable rolling of ultra-thin, wide-width strips, overcoming critical industry challenges such as springback, difficult shape control and inconsistent material properties. We achieved stable mass production of high-end titanium foil.

With an annual capacity of 3,000 tons, the production line is expected to realize an annual output value of $116 million, supporting large-volume supply demands from high-end customers in aerospace, electronics, new energy, chemical engineering and other industries..

2) The production line is equipped with advanced equipment in the world which can ensure high precision and stability for every coil of strip and foil:
