Zr702 Foil

Zr702 Foil Description

1. Zr702 Foil Introduction

Zr702 Foil is a pure zirconium ultra-thin strip designed for highly corrosive environments and applications that require long-term stability. It contains Zr+Hf≥99.2% and is produced through vacuum melting, multi-pass precision cold rolling, and strict annealing processes. This manufacturing process ensures the material maintains a stable microstructure, accurate dimensions, and reliable performance even in harsh chemical conditions.

In practical industrial use, the main advantage of Zr702 Foil is its excellent stability in extremely corrosive media. It performs especially well in hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, organic acids, and mixed acid environments, where it maintains a very low corrosion rate and stable chemical performance over time.

In chemical, electrolysis, and high-corrosion system design, why do purchasing engineers choose Zr702?

  • Titanium materials fail quickly in non-oxidizing acids.
  • Stainless steel suffers from pitting and perforation in strong acidic environments.
  • Nickel materials have limited stability in some acid systems and come with higher cost.
  • Zr702 provides longer service life and higher safety in acidic environments.

2. Core Material Advantages

  • Extremely strong corrosion resistance: Performs better than titanium and stainless steel in hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, organic acids, and seawater environments.
  • High sealing reliability: Suitable for gaskets, diaphragms, and sealing structures with long service life.
  • Excellent formability: Annealed material is soft and suitable for stamping, bending, and ultra-thin processing.
  • Stable microstructure: Shows minimal performance degradation under high-temperature or long-term use conditions.
  • Good weldability: Supports TIG welding and spot welding for sealing and structural connections.
  • Standard specification: Thickness 0.02–1.0 mm, width 15-680 mm, suitable for chemical corrosion protection and sealing structures requiring long-term reliability.
  • Custom thickness: ≧0.005 mm, suitable for scientific research, high-precision electrolysis and vacuum equipment; while balancing extreme thinness and dimensional stability, it ensures excellent material consistency, and simultaneously achieves special electrochemical properties and high sensitivity, resulting in higher assembly precision and more stable and reliable use.

3. Production Process & Equipment

Our company focuses on making high-end titanium, nickel, zirconium and alloy With advanced 20-high precision rolling mills, we can roll ultra-thin, wide strips with very high precision.

Major equipment: 750 mm 20-high precision rolling mill

Technological Advantages

During the mass production of 0.02–1.0 mm zirconium foil, the industry commonly faces several issues:

  • The material oxidizes easily and requires a very strict processing environment;
  • Thickness and flatness control is difficult during rolling;
  • Improper annealing easily leads to uneven microstructure;
  • Surface oxidation causes color variation and contamination;
  • Slitting ultra-thin foil often creates edge defects.

To address these challenges, we achieve stable production through the following solutions:

  • We use multi-pass cold rolling with intermediate annealing to ensure stable thickness and good ductility recovery;
  • We use inert gas or vacuum annealing to reduce oxidation and improve microstructure uniformity;
  • We build a high-precision thickness control system to ensure stable mass production of ultra-thin specifications;
  • We apply full-process clean production control to reduce surface defects and color differences;
  • We optimize slitting and tension control to improve edge quality and yield.
