ASTM F67 Medical Gr4 Titanium Wire

ASTM F67 Medical Gr4 Titanium Wire Description

Product Introduction

ASTM F67 Gr4 medical titanium wire is the highest-strength unalloyed titanium grade conforming to ASTM F67 for surgical implant applications. UTS ≥550 MPa and YS ≥483 MPa annealed, significantly higher than Gr1 and Gr2. Nickel-free, non-toxic, and non-sensitizing, with biocompatibility certified to both ASTM F67 and ISO 5832-2. The preferred choice for orthopedic and dental implants requiring higher mechanical strength. Available from φ0.1 mm to φ6.5 mm, customizable up to φ10.0 mm, as straight wire or coil.

Features and Advantages

  • Highest CP titanium strength: UTS≥550 MPa, YS≥483 MPa- suited for high-load implant applications.
  • Dual implant-grade certification: Meets ASTM F67 and ISO 5832-2 surgical implant standards.
  • Non-toxic and non-sensitizing: Zero nickel; safe for long-term in-vivo use with no rejection.
  • MRI-compatible: Non-magnetic; patients with implants can safely undergo MRI scans.
  • Physiological corrosion resistance: No degradation or corrosion in blood or body fluid environments.
  • CP titanium value: Highest strength among CP titanium implant materials at lower cost than Ti-6Al-4V.

Performance Solutions

1. Problem: Gr1 and Gr2 CP titanium lacks the strength for high-load-bearing orthopedic implants.

Solution: ASTM F67 Gr4 titanium wire delivers UTS≥550 MPa-the strongest CP titanium grade – meeting strength requirements for load-bearing implants.

2. Problem: Stainless steel implants contain nickel, presenting allergy and rejection risks.

Solution: ASTM F67 Gr4 titanium wire has zero nickel, is non-toxic and non-allergenic. Safe for long-term in-vivo use.

3. Problem: CoCr alloy elastic modulus >200 GPa causes stress shielding and bone resorption.

Solution: ASTM F67 Gr4 titanium wire has an elastic modulus near 100 GPa-much closer to bone -promoting normal bone healing.

4. Problem: Ti-6Al-4V contains aluminum and vanadium, which concern some patients.

Solution: ASTM F67 Gr4 titanium wire is unalloyed titanium. No Al or V content, simpler composition, and higher perceived safety.

Applications

A. Used in load-bearing bone plates, large bone screws, hip stems, knee prostheses, and spinal fixation rods. Highest-strength CP titanium grade, meeting ASTM F67 implant standards.

B. Used in implants, abutment screws, orthodontic archwires, and denture frameworks. High strength with excellent biocompatibility. No gingival irritation in long-term use.

C. Used in sternal ligature wire, cerclage wire, surgical suture wire, and internal fixation devices. High strength ensures secure fixation. Ductile for intraoperative contouring.

D. Used in high-load surgical forceps, osteotomes, intramedullary reamers, and minimally invasive instrument components. Highest CP titanium strength. Compatible with repeated sterilization.

E. Used in high-load occluder frames, vascular anastomosis devices, and endovascular repair components. Non-magnetic, non-toxic, MRI-compatible. Suitable for permanent implantation.
