Gr4 Titanium Wire

Gr4 Titanium Wire Description

Product Introduction

Gr4 titanium wire (ASTM Grade 4/UNS R50700/TA4) is the highest-strength CP titanium grade. α single-phase structure, non-heat-treatable. UTS≥550 MPa and YS≥483 MPa — significantly higher than Gr1 and Gr2. Combines good ductility with excellent weldability and the same corrosion resistance as other CP titanium grades.

Ideal for high-strength welding, springs, fasteners, and demanding corrosive service conditions. Available from φ0.1 mm to φ6.5 mm, customizable up to φ10.0 mm, as straight wire or coil.

Features and Advantages

  • Highest strength in CP titanium: UTS≥550 MPa, YS≥483 MPa-far above Gr1 and Gr2.
  • Excellent weldability: Meets ERTi-4 specs, compatible with TIG/MIG welding, low porosity, high joint strength.
  • Broad corrosion resistance: Resistant to atmosphere, seawater, salt spray, and weak acids and alkalis.
  • Lightweight and non-magnetic: Density 4.51 g/cm³ (56% of steel), suited for precision instruments and weight-critical designs.
  • Biocompatible: Non-toxic and non-sensitizing, meets requirements for medical contact components.
  • Process-ready: Available in straight wire and large coils, easy to form, compatible with automated production lines.

Performance Solutions

1. Problem: High-strength stainless steel struggles to balance strength and corrosion resistance in aggressive media, leading to stress corrosion cracking.

Solution: Gr4 titanium wire delivers UTS ≥550 MPa alongside excellent corrosion resistance. It is a direct replacement for high-strength stainless steel in demanding corrosive environments.

2. Problem: Gr1 and Gr2 titanium wire lack the strength needed for heavy-duty springs, fasteners, and load-bearing structural components.

Solution: Gr4 offers more than twice the tensile strength of Gr1. It is the highest-strength CP titanium grade, suited for high-strength titanium springs, screws, and structural parts.

3. Problem: Common metal welding wire produces low joint strength and high porosity when welding high-strength titanium equipment, compromising safety.

Solution: Gr4 titanium wire meets ERTi-4 welding wire specifications. Welds are dense with joint strength matching the base material. The standard choice for high-strength titanium equipment and pipeline welding.

4. Problem: Iron-based materials corrode heavily in marine salt spray and high-chloride environments, driving up equipment maintenance costs.

Solution: Gr4 titanium wire outperforms 316L stainless steel in seawater and high-chloride corrosion resistance. Suited for subsea components and desalination equipment.

Applications

  1. Compliant with ERTi-4 specifications. Used for TIG/MIG welding of high-strength titanium equipment, pipelines, vessels, and heat exchangers. Welds are dense with high joint strength. The standard choice for high-strength titanium fabrication in chemical processing, petrochemical, and nuclear industries.
  2. Applied in filter screens, electrolytic anodes, work holders, and corrosion-resistant structural parts. In hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and chloride media, service life is 5-10 times longer than stainless steel.
  3. Used in high-strength titanium springs, screws, clamps, and structural fasteners. Gr4 delivers the highest strength of any CP titanium grade, meeting high-load requirements while offering corrosion resistance and non-magnetic properties.
  4. Suited for desalination pipelines, subsea structural components, marine fasteners, and anti-corrosion mesh. Outperforms 316L stainless steel in salt spray and high-chloride environments with lower long-term maintenance costs.
  5. Used in high-strength non-magnetic springs, sensor frames, precision cables, and shielding components. Non-magnetic properties eliminate interference in sensitive measurements. Diameter tolerance ±0.02 mm supports precision and miniaturized designs.
