Ti-15V-3Al-3Cr-3Sn Titanium Foil
Ti-15V-3Al-3Cr-3Sn Titanium Foil Description
1. Introduction
Ti-15V-3Al-3Cr-3Sn titanium foil is an ultra-thin near-β titanium alloy strip developed for high-end precision manufacturing.
It is produced via vacuum melting, hot rolling breakdown, multi-pass precision cold rolling and solution & aging heat treatment (Complex forming is performed in the solution-treated state, while final high strength is achieved in the aged state, enabling control over processing and performance).
The key advantage of this material is its formability and end-use strength can be controlled separately as required.
In practical engineering applications, different titanium materials exist some differences:
- Gr1 Titanium Foil: highest ductility, the lowest strength, applyfor extreme forming operations
- Gr2 Titanium Foil: well-balanced overall properties, suitable for general industrial applications
- Gr4 Titanium Foil: the highest strength among pure titanium grades, with improved load-bearing capacity but increased processing difficulty
- Gr5 Titanium Foil: a high-strength structural material, difficult to cold-form
- Ti-15V-3Al-3Cr-3Sn Titanium Foil: Complex forming is performed in the solution-treated state, while final high strength is achieved in the aged state, enabling control over processing and performance.

Technological Advantages
-
During the mass production of Ti-15V-3Al-3Cr-3Sn titanium alloy foil with dimensions of 0.02–1.0 mm thickness × 15–680 mm width, the industry commonly faces the following critical challenges.
1. Narrow processing situation for ultra-thin wide-width products, leading to significant challenges in controlling flatness and springback.
2. Prone to oxidation and surface property changes during the transformation of multiple processes.
To address the above-mentioned industry challenges, we have achieved stable mass production and controllable performance through collaborative optimization of processes and equipments:
a. Relying on the 750 mm 20-high rolling mill and precision skinpass system, we improve the flatness control capability and surface evenness of widewidth strips.
b. A high-precision closedloop thickness control system is established to ensure dimensional stability for ultrathin gauges down to 0.02 mm.
c. Full-process inert gas/vacuum protection and cleaning treatment processes are adopted to effectively inhibit oxygen contamination and fluctuations in surface performance.
d. Slitting and tension matching control are optimized to reduce edge defects and processing deformation, improving finishedproduct yield.
Application
-
1. Aerospace: Figure out problems for large thin-wall products due to over weight, difficult forming, and poor consistency.
2. Electronic Components & EMI Shielding: Solve problems of excessive joints, signal leakage, and non-uniform thickness in large-area shielding materials.
3. Precision Instruments & Sensors: Prevent deformation during ultra-thin material processing, improve dimension consistency, and ensures stable mass production.
4. Composites & Laminated Materials: Eliminates discontinuous interfaces, uneven bonding strength, and poor structural stability in large-area laminates.
5. Chemical Corrosion-Resistant Components: Resolves difficulties in one-piece installation of equipment linings and reduces corrosion points caused by many welds.
